Kyoshi Performs ‘Will It Lie’ Live at Enmore

PRESENTED BY

Kyoshi has a sound that straddles soul and psychedelia. It encompasses traditional jazz instrumentation and augments it with splashes of synth and injects with heavy grooves.

Hot on the heels of the band’s debut self-titled album release, they arrived at the Live at Enmore studios and dished up something completely fresh, an as-yet-unreleased track called Will It Lie.

Referencing the cycles of nature, the hypnotic phrases of Will It Lie sound like an incantation, with the hypnotic force of the band’s groove lulling you under their spell.

Will It Lie was Mixed and Recorded by Owen Penglis

The band features frontwoman and pianist Leah Wilkie, bassist Rory Lucas, drummer Tommy O’Brien, and guitarist Yianni Adams, who also added flourishes of synth.

Here’s what Wilkie had to say about Will It Lie before recording:

“It was about a toxic cycle I was in, so I was running from that experience. In the chorus, there’s a lot of allusion to nature… I guess it’s commenting on natural cycles.”
