Lara Andallo Performs ‘Diamond in the Rough’ Live From Happy

PRESENTED BY

In association with Sydney World Pride 2023, Live From Happy will exclusively feature some of the best queer musicians, and to start it off we had R&B artist Lara Andallo for a beautiful, stripped back performance of her single ‘Diamond in the Rough’.

Her tale of having a crush on a girl who has a boyfriend — a situation that has potential, but is a little rough — was the second single from her forthcoming EP ‘DIAMONDS & DEJAVU’, set for release on Thursday February 23rd — next week!

Diamond in the Rough was Mixed and Recorded by Tim McArtney, Owen Penglis and Radi Safi.

This Live from Happy session was made possible by the generous support of AVID and Mojave. AVID is a music company who make the infamous Pro Tools Software, Sibelius and Audio Interfaces and Mojave make world class microphones that are affordable without compromise .

In this session Happy utilised Pro Tools and Avid Carbon Pre Audio Interfaces and the Mojave MA-D Dynamic Handheld Microphone.

Released in August last year, Diamond in the Rough was written by Lara Andallo, Hugh Lake (Stan Walker, BOY SODA) and Mess with Hugh Lake and Mess on production.

Talking about her forthcoming EP ‘DIAMONDS & DEJAVU’ Lara explained:

“Diamonds are made under pressure. All these songs were about moments where I felt like I was at a crossroads & under my own emotional pressure, yet had already faced in the past (like Deja Vu). Reliving & reflecting on these feelings from a more honest place while writing, lead me to being able to find power in my openness & embracing all my sides. There’s so much strength & beauty in that, and that’s what diamonds represent to me.”
