Ruby Jackson dropped by our Noise Machines studio for a special ‘Live from Happy’ session.
Ruby hit us with the sweet track ‘You’ve Changed’ delivering a sweet chorus of harmony, and straight up R&B mood with nothing other than a piano, and a couple of backup singers.
Based in Sydney, Ruby dives straight into the R&B/Soul scene with influences from heavy-hitters like Lily Allen and Mahalia.
What makes her stand out, though, is her distinctive storytelling approach and a signature, authentic vocal style.
Ruby wrote ‘You’ve changed’ a few years ago, and as you can tell from the honest lyrics, it’s about that one person, or people in your life that can’t handle it when you grow up or change.
Especially in high school, when judgement seems to reign, that good ole learning ground aye, it doesn’t seem to sit well for some reason, when a preconceived idea of someone, changes. So Ruby dug into it.
