Anya Taylor-Joy does driving stunts without a license in ‘Furiosa’

Anya Taylor-Joy talks getting behind the wheel without a license in Furiosa: “I can do that and not hit the camera people, which is great.”

As it turns out, Anya Taylor-Joy doesn’t need a pesky driver’s license to tell her what she can and can’t do with a car on set. Discussing the production of her forthcoming movie, Furiosa, Anya tells IndieWire what it’s been like to perform all of the film’s driving stunts herself.

“I don’t actually have a license, so I can’t drive. I can’t on a highway, I can’t parallel park, but if you need me to do a juicy 180 in a truck, I can do that and not hit the camera people, which is great,” she explains.

It’s safe to say that we’re pretty keen to see these stunts with our own eyes. Having recently wrapped up production on the film, Anya Taylor-Joy tells IndieWire that it’s “the dirtiest and the bloodiest” she’s ever been.

Directed by George Miller, Furiosa is an upcoming post-apocalyptic action movie, starring Anya Taylor-Joy as the lead character, Imperator Furiosa. The film is described as both a prequel and spin-off to the 2015 motion picture, Mad Max: Fury Road. The movie is slated for release via Warner Bros., Village Roadshow Pictures and Kennedy Miller Mitchell on 24 May, 2024.
