Jaala is a Melbourne quartet led by singer, songwriter, and guitarist Cosima. After growing up in Brisbane, Cosima moved to Melbourne to study Fine Arts at RMIT.
Soon after, she joined jazz-punk outfit Mangelwurzel, before striking out as a solo artist under the moniker Jaala. Her debut album, Hard Hold (2015), received significant praise but never eventuated in momentum. Her sophomore LP, Joonya Spirit, was released via Bedroom Suck in 2018 and exposed her to considerable public appeal.
