Curtis Lowe is a captivating presence on his debut EP Sad Bangers Vol. 1

With only three tracks under his belt, NYC-based producer Conor Cook (aka Curtis Lowe) has quickly built a unique sound for himself. His music is the kind of music that envelopes you wholly. It drapes over your body, immersing you in shimmering, seemingly-flawless production.

With the release of his debut EP Sad Bangers Vol. 1, Lowe has immediately established himself as one of electronic music’s most exciting emerging acts. If you haven’t already been paying attention to this name, it’s definitely time you started.

On his debut EP Sad Bangers Vol. 1, New York City-based producer Curtis Lowe immediately establishes himself as one of electronic music’s most exciting emerging acts.

Throughout the new EP’s three-track duration, Lowe glides through slick, glassy production and soaring vocal hooks to deliver a sound that’s truly irresistible. Opening track Breaking Me flaunts sultry, indie-electronica-style guitar licks and rich, layered production. The track is simultaneously energetic and relaxed; powerful and understated.

For Automatic, Lowe enlisted the vocal assistance of Ben Duffy. The result is a dynamic slice of electronica that will rope you in, leaving you hanging on each word. Duffy’s vocal delivery sounds as if he’s speaking each line directly into your ear. This sense of intimacy is a common theme throughout Sad Bangers Vol. 1, with Out Of Focus sharing a similar quality.

The EP’s closing track is possibly the EP’s brightest, as Lowe weaves his glittery synth lines with TOMI’s spirited, vintage-pop inspired vocals. By the time the track reaches its conclusion, you’ll have been captivated completely by Curtis Lowe.

These are still early days for Lowe, but judging by everything we’ve heard so far, I think we can safely expect plenty more quality tunes in the near future.

For now, do yourself a favour and listen to the new EP above.
