Ever wanted to record abroad? Iceland will now pay 25% of your expenses

‘Record in Iceland’ is the new government-backed initiative conceived by the country’s music export office, Iceland Music. The 25% rebate on recording expenses applies to all recording studios in the country.

From Greenhouse Studios, where Kanye West once recorded, to the great Syrland and Hljóðriti studios, they’re all included under the program.Iceland

Get a 25% rebate on your recording expenses with the Record in Iceland initiative, featuring some of the world’s finest studios in a stunning location.

This island nation is a very small place with a high proportion of talented people. Most studios there have reserved time for artists like Björk and Of Monsters And Men. The team at Record in Iceland invite you to musical inspiration in the Northern Lights or expansive open spaces.

Because of our glorious isolation, Iceland has nurtured quite a unique music culture,” says Sigtryggur Baldursson, Managing Director of Iceland Music.

The recording needs to be under 30 minutes and released no more than 18 months after the sessions, as per the requirements of the program. Hourly studio rates, post-production, travel, transport, accommodation costs and producer salary are all included.

Additionally, you get your choice of studio with expert engineers and composers that are around to help your project along.
