sun room interview

Surf rock sweethearts Sun Room swung into Happy Mag on their maiden voyage around the Aussie Coast

Thomas, Max, Luke, and Ashton, the talented quartet from the Southern California band Sun Room, recently landed in the Happy Mag headquarters during their debut tour of Australia

Swinging into the interview with an infectious energy that mirrors their music, the band shared stories of their love for surfing, experiences in the Aussie music scene, and their unique blend of garage rock flourishing in Southern California.

The Sun Room crew wasted no time immersing themselves in Australian culture. Whether they were mooching surfboards in Byron Bay and Avalon or indulging in some of the best Thai food along the coast, they have fully embraced the Aussie experience.

Touted as a ‘modern version of the Beach Boys,’ Sunroom is making some serious waves with their latest EP, ‘At Least I Tried.’

The band’s music effortlessly combines the raw energy of garage rock with the iconic surf sound synonymous with Southern California.

Drawing inspiration from a spectrum that spans 70s classic rock, 80s new wave, and the unmistakable surf thrash, Sunroom is carving its niche in the contemporary music scene.

Their latest EP, ‘At Least I Tried,’ is a devil-may-care exploration, clocking in at just over 10 minutes. The four tracks are a sonic rollercoaster, fast, loud, and lyrically unphased.

Produced by Zac Carper of FIDLAR, a significant influence on Sunroom from their California DIY scene upbringing, the EP is a testament to the band’s commitment to delivering unfiltered garage jams and unruly show antics.

Currently on tour in Australia with a troupe of up-and-coming Aussie bands as support, the band is set to leave their mark on the Southern Hemisphere.
