New Music Radar: Merry Merry, KIOWA, Daeui and more

A lot of indie music in various shapes and sizes of pop, rock, R&B and dance.

To quote Friedrich Nietzsche, “Without music, life would be a mistake”.

So it would be a mistake to miss out on the multitude of music that drops every single damn day.

Em Davalla

But it can be a lot to deal with.

So, over at Happy Mag, we’ve done some of the heavy lifting already for you.

Here are ten tracks that have entered into the Happy Mag New Music orbit.

Merry Merry – ‘Carry On’

This feel–good track off of the Bedroom pop duo’s newest album is a breezy ride that feels like it’s come straight out of winds of Spring. A well brewed bottle of hazy indie rock to start the day.

Nail/Biter – ‘Getting Drunk at the Hotel Indooroopilly’

The hit single and intro to Rescue Dog, is a fierce punk rock explosion that grabs a hold of you and refuses to let go. Raspy vocals, energetic strumming patterns and abrasive percussion all packed into one.

Leroy Copeland – ‘Gravity’

Leroy Copeland’s first dabble of 2026 is fun tune that showcases the indie singer/songwriter’s ability to create catchy chord progressions along with well layered vocals and feel good guitar breaks.

Daeui – ‘can we pretend’

This dreamy and melancholic journey will make you feel like you’re sitting weightlessly on a cloud made up entirely of your own yearning-filled thought-bubbles.

KIOWA – ‘throwing off my body’

The title track from this bite-sized EP isn’t something that can really be placed in one specific genre. Plucky acoustics straight of country, glitchy vocal effects found in bedroom pop and a beat straight out of experimental R&b.

Dags – ‘Misfit’

‘Misfit’ is a raw track that will make you feel a range of emotions. It’s got feel good instrumentation under a deeply introspective dive into identity, belonging and purpose.

Em Davalla – ‘Limited Edition’

This funky pop and R&B record is extremely infectious with a jazzy production and Davalla’s effortless ability to glide over the valleys and peaks of the song’s progression.

Likely Story – ‘Emo Craig’

As the title implies, this track is an emo punk anthem filled with angst and isolation. The drums crash into your heart in tandem with the lyrics.

The Kiddos – ‘Cherry’

The Texas-based indie pop trio are back again with a chirpy and star-shaded tune. Claps straight out of the 90s, guitar riffs straight out of the 00s and bedroom pop production straight out of the 2010s.

Silver Dagger, Matilda Grace – ‘Not Forgetting’

‘Not Forgetting’ is a dance track that offers a repetitious but infectious electronic beat with Grace perfectly complementing it with her fairy-esque vocals. Silver Dagger’s experience with punk subtly bleeds in with occasionally subdued riffs and licks.
