PREMIERE: Moniker and Georgia Mooney form a captivating alliance on Look For The Sun

There’s something strangely captivating about the music of Moniker. Having spent the past number of years collaborating with a catalogue of Australia’s biggest and best acts, the enigmatic underground artist has crafted a sound that feels both cinematic and deranged; it’s simultaneously immersive and unsettling.

It was late last year, with the release of their single Brighter, that we were first introduced to the project… though now, with the release of their latest single Look For The Sun, Moniker continues to grow as one of Aussie music’s most unique musical acts.

On their new single Look For The Sun, Moniker teams with All Our Exes Live In Texas’ Georgia Mooney to create an ethereal slice of experimental synth-pop.

For the new track, Moniker has enlisted the vocal assistance of Georgia Mooney (All Our Exes Live In Texas), and together they form a striking musical alliance. With ethereal vocal lines and brutal synth stabs, Look For The Sun is a dark slice of experimental synth-pop that you’ll be unable to rip your attention away from.

Across the track’s four-and-a-half-minute duration, the duo pull in myriad sonic direction—the song never sits in one place for too long. One moment you’ll be floating through lush, hallucinatory production, and the next you’ll be getting smacked in the face by violent drum machines.

These are still early days for Moniker (at least under this name), but judging by the quality of what we’ve heard so far, I think we can safely expect plenty more great material. In the meantime, listen to Look For The Sun above.
