Splendour In The Grass and Falls Festival have finally secured a permanent home at North Byron Parklands, after using the venue site for a number of years. Splendour has been held there for all but two years since its inauguration in 2001.
The announcement follows the venue’s application to the NSW Department of Planning and Environment in December 2017 for a $42 million redevelopment following a successful five-year trail period.
Splendour In The Grass and Falls Festival now have a forever home at North Byron Parklands, as well as approval for new facilities and events.
The submission was secured on Wednesday by the Independent Planning Commission (IPC) and many exciting things are in stall for the venue, such as an increase for the capacity of Splendour to 50,000 and Falls to 35,000.
In addition, the organisers are addressing issues such as traffic congestion and are working on a designated public transport area as well as the construction of a new administration building and a conference centre accomodating up to 120 guests.
To top it all off, more live music may be happening in the area, as the venue has the potential to host more festivals and events with the approval for three one-day festivals (25,000 people) and five smaller events (5,000 people).
