Take a 60 second crash course on famous painters in history, including Salvador Dalí, Marcel Duchamp, Jackson Pollock, Mark Rothko and more.

The UK Royal Academy of Arts have been publishing a series called Painters in 60 Seconds aimed exactly at these people (i.e. most people). As you probably guessed they are 60 second crash courses on some of the most celebrated painters in history: Dalí, Pollock, Rothko, Duchamp, Matissee and more.

So far 12 have been published, each hosted by Royal Academy of the Arts Artistic Director, Tim Marlow.

“Regarded by some of his peers as a sellout who didn’t tow the line politically, he first made his name with art that mimed his deepest fears and fixations,” he says of Dalí, “and these surrealist paintings owed much to the theories of psychoanalysis. But there’s more to [him] than skilfully rendered fever dreams of sex and decay.”

They’re a really solid was to get your head around some of history’s most intriguing artistic figures, and are a good place to find out who you like and to go a hunt down more info. Check out the playlist here.
