HAPPY MAG PRESENTS

UMAMI – THE PERFECT MIX
A REMIX COMPILATION BY HAPPY MAG

Umami, ‘the fifth taste’, is all about satisfaction. It’s about feeling content at the flavour profile of your dish, a unison of small parts working in perfect harmony.

Happy Mag are pleased to share the UMAMI compilation, a collection of remixes by contemporary Australian artists and producers. Each artist has chosen a song well outside of their established style to tackle; a process designed to push themselves out of their comfort zone, taking the song to places that are entirely unexpected. Ever heard a tech house producer remix a surf rock track? Now you can, in UMAMI.

We’ll be telling the story of each artist as they work on their remix, from concept to creation. Why did they choose that specific song? What features of the track will they be highlighting? How do they even start with a remix like this? Join the UMAMI artists for in-depth insights into their processes as each remix is revealed.

And for the producers out there, each artist has recorded a technical run-down of how they put their remix together in Ableton Live. Prepare to get granular.
