San Francisco folk rock explorer Sun Kil Moon is returning to Australian shores in May to deliver a majestic and unparalleled live experience.
The outfit fronted by Mark Kozolek will be journeying across an array of iconic theatres and intimate rural venues. No support acts have been selected for the tour, as Kozolek will be delivering 2.5 hour sets of career spanning material.
Often meandering through stream of consciousness poetics, Mark Kozolek conjures up intense, mesmerising and often transporting imagery.
Walking the line between sparse and intense, Sun Kil Moon’s live performances have been hailed by the Guardian as “utterly magnificent”.
Since the disbanding of Mark Kozolek’s Red House Painters nearly 17 years ago, the prolific writer has produced nine studio albums under the moniker Sun Kil Moon, culminating in 2013’s Benji. The astonishing work gained widespread critical acclaim and a legion of die-hard fans due to the resonating and melancholic lyricism.
With a new album, I also want to die in New Orleans, on the horizon and a wealth of experience at his back, Kozolek’s pulsing, poetic balladry is something to be experienced by all fans of song-craft and uniqueness.
