Ben Woods’ new video for Lozenge is a slice of thrashy garage-pop glory

Whenever we get sent new music from a New Zealand based artist, we immediately get excited. Our friends across the ditch are killing it right now… and Christchurch’s Ben Woods is no exception.

With the release of a new video for his debut track Lozenge, Woods has established his ability for crafting incredibly addictive, pop-driven, scuzzy rock gems that’ll crawl beneath your skin and make you groove.

On his incredible debut single Lozenge, Christchurch based artist Ben Woods staggers through a scuzzy concoction of thrashy garage-pop… and we can’t get enough.

Across the new track, Woods crawls through a jangly concoction of pop and garage to craft a sound that belongs entirely to himself. All through its punchy two-minute duration, Lozenge throws layers of chaotic sounds on top of one another, creating a barrage of fuzzed-out glory.

Directed by Martin Sagadin, the track’s accompanying video sees Woods performing alongside his band on the insane kiwi game show we never knew we needed.

These are still early days for Ben Woods, but judging by the quality of what we’ve heard so far, I think we can safely expect plenty more quality tunes from this New Zealand artist. Here’s hoping we won’t have to wait long to hear what he delivers next.

For now, do yourself a favour and watch the new video for Lozenge above.
