Grab an ice pack, shit’s about to get hot. Charli XCX is doing her best to break the internet today, dropping the almost-too-handsome clip for her single Boys.
You guessed it, it’s full of boys.
So this is what we call the female gaze? Charli XCX flips the gender switch with Boys, a three-minute stretch of eye candy for the ages.
The clip was directed by Charli XCX herself, and features (to name a few) Flume, Mark Ronson, Diplo, Chromeo, Kaytranada, Mac DeMarco, Wiz Khalifa, Ty Dolla $ign, DRAM, Stormzy, Ezra Kroenig (Vampire Weekend), Carl Barat (The Libertines), John Gourley (Portugal. The Man), G-Eazy, Joe Jonas and a ton more. A feast, if you will.
There’s so much damn juice in here, it’s almost impossible to pick a best moment. The gratuitous guitar lick from Mac is an instant finalist, but it’s hard to go past Flume doing his homework on Girls or Ezra Kroenig and Mark Ronson getting ready for school together.
Check it below.
Mad props to Charli for throwing gender on its head here. As hilarious, uncomfortable, or just fucking sexy as this may seem to you, it’s exactly how women have been portrayed in music videos since the dawn of time.
