After more than 19 years serving as one of Melbourne’s most iconic rock venues, Cherry Bar is packing up and leaving its current AC/DC Lane location.
The venue announced its move on Tuesday in a Facebook post on their page. Their final hurrah in the current location is set for Sunday March 31st, so if you’re keen for one more sesh in AC/DC Lane, you’ve got just over two months to do it. And with their final ten weeks serving as a farewell party, you’ve got plenty of opportunities.
Thankfully Cherry Bar isn’t closing or ceasing operation, just packing up the iconic location in Melbourne’s AC/DC Lane for greener pastures.
The Facebook post made sure to assure punters that this was not the end of Cherry Bar or its staff, just that they were moving to a yet-to-be-named location. Further promising to keep up their promise of delivering live and local, late night rock.
“To preserve its long-term future Cherry Bar will MOVE from AC/DC Lane. Cherry Bar has not and will never be sold. It is my intention to take the name, the staff and the sticky carpet to a new Melbourne address with a long lease and a safe and secure future for live local music and late night rock n roll revelry.”
For fans of Melbourne’s live music scene, never fear. Cherry promises to keep rocking late into the night and supporting Australian live music.
