De̊ǰa

Even though we are already nearing the end of March, for my own peace of mind I’m going to start this article off exactly how I want. So…

Eclectic Melbourne duo De̊ǰa have kick started 2014 with the release of their most recent EP, Heavy Water, just 16 days ago. From their black magic appearance, to their arty (what does that mean?) videos, to the epic illustrations used to market their songs, these two have managed to tie it all together with a visual image that somehow mirrors it’s crystal clear reflection within their music. Heavy Water is slower than their 2013 Make Light EP, and its poignant, melodic techno at its best. Slowly emphasised by a voodoo beat and Rromarin’s hauntingly beautiful vocals, the tracks are all distinctively different. Some draw on the use of vocals from the duo’s male counterpart, Haxx, but all are enchanting.

De̊ǰa have recently joined the crew at Artist Cartel, and this coming April will see their single launch of Heavy Water. It kicks of Saturday the 5th in Melbourne (obviously) and from there, De̊ǰa will bring it to Brisbane and Sydney.
