Dermot Kennedy interview

In an exclusive Happy Mag interview, Dermot Kennedy shares insights on ‘Sonder,’ Aussie tour, and more

We caught up with Irish singer-songwriter Dermot Kennedy ahead of his Australian festival circuit and headline tour, including an unprecedented three-night stint at the Sydney Opera House forecourt.

And hey, if you missed the boat on those Opera House tickets – don’t worry, you’re not alone. Two nights are already sold out!

Dermot’s no stranger to the Aussie scene, having sold out shows on the East Coast last May. Now, with December just around the corner, he’s back for round two.

Adding an extra layer of special to the tour, Dermot’s also dropping an Australian-exclusive vinyl of ‘Sonder’ with a couple of bonus tracks.

Released last November, ‘Sonder’ has been making waves with its standout singles like ‘Kiss Me,’ ‘Something to Someone,’ and ‘Better Days.’

The album title, in Dermot’s words, is all about realising that everyone you pass is living a life just as vivid and complex as your own.

Starting his festival run with Spilt Milk in Ballarat and Perth, Dermot’s bringing the good vibes to Australia’s festival grounds.

Then, of course, there’s the iconic Sydney Opera House forecourt – where he’s making history with three back-to-back shows.

Wrapping it all up with a session at Brisbane’s Riverstage on December 10th, so, whether you’re catching him under festival lights or chilling by the river, Dermot’s bringing his signature Irish charm and a lil ‘Sonder’ mood Down Under.
