James Bennett’s WEIRD WORLD is a slice of stunning folk magic

Newcastle folk artist James Bennett is a stunning songsmith; boasting a craft refined over hundreds of live shows. His latest release, WEIRD WORLD meets everything we’ve come to expect: languid, smooth as honey vocals, jangly, self-taught guitar work, and expert lyricism.

WEIRD WORLD is a cut from his forthcoming third studio album, slated for release in mid-2019. It’s set to feature former John Butler Trio drummer and percussionist Michael Barker, with Mike Rix on upright bass.

James Bennett has got folk down to a fine art – refining his crafted over hundreds of live shows, and producing stunning pieces like WEIRD WORLD.

James is a seasoned live performer, averaging on more than 100 shows a year, and playing shows in venues across Australia and New Zealand. A multi-talented musician, he’s been known to take 11 and 6 string guitars, a stomp box, foot tambourine, and a harmonica to the stage.

What’s more, James has warmed the stage for a myriad of local and international talent in past years, including artists such as The John Butler Trio, Diesel, Jeff lang, Wendy Matthews, Ian Moss, The Black Sorrows, Vika & Linda Bull, Rick Price & Dan Sultan. This list also extends to some well know international artists like Newton Faulkner (UK) & Canned Heat (USA).

We’ve put a few of Jame’s upcoming shows below. Until then, wrap your ears around WEIRD WORLD.
