PREMIERE: Hot Work’s debut EP Clean Living will leave you shaking at the knees

Since playing their first show in late 2017, Sydney outfit Hot Work have been shooting their vintage sounds into the hips of listeners all over the city. If you’re not already across this band, it’s definitely time you changed that – these guys rip.

Back in August, they dropped their single Got Me On My Knees, and immediately we were hooked. Since then, we’ve been waiting patiently for more, and now the band have delivered.

On their debut EP Clean Living, Sydney quartet Hot Work skip through a concoction of vintage sounds to create something completely irresistible.

Made up of guitarist and vocalist Michael Van Dyk, bassist Jack McPhee, drummer Riley Pierce, and guitarist Liam Wilson, Hot Work dance through an infectious and sunshine-soaked concoction of blues, surf-pop, and old-school rock n’ roll to deliver a sound that you’ll be physically unable to resist.

Across the four track duration of their debut EP Clean Living, the quartet saunter through jangly, grindhouse cinema-style guitar lines, raucous percussion, and flailing vocal delivery.

As Van Dyk’s vocals flicker between shaking screeches and a deep, 50’s style croon, Hot Work craft a sound that feels simultaneously nostalgic and modern.

These are still early days for this Inner-West band, but judging by what we’ve heard so far, I think we can safely expect plenty more quality material.

For now, do yourself a favour and listen to the Clean Living EP above.
