PREMIERE: Prophecy Playground explore perpetual longing on their debut track Spirit Yawn

Prophecy Playground is the psychedelic-folk brainchild of singer-songwriter and composer Or Izekson, whose debut single Spirit Yawn is today being released.

Spirit Yawn is a transient folk-rock track detailing an endless bout of homesickness, both physically and spiritually.

Prophecy Playground’s debut single Spirit Yawn pays homage to psychedelic-folk of times gone by, with a contemporary and otherworldly twist.

The music is both nostalgic and original. Izekson carefully curates elements from classic European chamber music, British rock and ’60s and ’70s whimsical folk to deliver a unique take on an oftentimes predictable genre. Prophecy Playground’s music is inquisitive and influenced by culture. It doesn’t lend too much to other artists; it seems to exist in a league of its own.

Whilst Izekson has developed his own style and skill on the acoustic guitar, he cites the distinctive sound of legendary Britsih folk-rock icon Nick Drake as a massive influence.

Izekson leads the helm of Prophecy Playground, with other band members Carmiella Bernstein (cello), Barak Shossberger (violin), Guy Brahm (drums and percussion) following suit. The band’s debut single Spirit Yawn delves into the feelings of perpetual longing, for home, stability and inner contentment.

The music is subtly spiritual; the band’s name, perhaps, gives away their disposition to the idea of the pneuma. Spirit Yawn is drawn from Prophecy Playground’s forthcoming debut album Comfort Zone. Check out the clip below:

Prophecy Playground made their stage debut over a year ago, and have since performed a plethora of shows in venues all over their native Israel, including a special tribute concert to legendary blues player Missipippi John Hurt on the 5th annual Tel Aviv Blues Festival. The band also played a slot at a Tel Aviv folk mini-festival alongside other like-minded musicians in the ever-growing Israeli folk scene.

Keep an eye out of Prophecy Playground’s debut album Comfort Zone, dropping soon.
