Puerto Rican superstar Ricky Martin has allegedly had a restraining order placed against him by an unidentified individual in Puerto Rico.
Police stated on Saturday that a judge had passed a restraining order against Ricky Martin.
The restraining order was signed Friday, but authorities could not locate the singer to serve the order.
Police spokesperson Axel Valencia told The Associated Press: “Up until now, police haven’t been able to find him,”
At this stage, representatives for Martin have denied allegations of the order and said Martin has not been charged with any crime.
It is still unknown who requested the restraining order and the police have said they won’t release further details as the order was filed under Puerto Rico’s domestic violence law.
A Puerto Rican newspaper, El Vocero, reported on the order saying that it details a brief relationship had with Martin and the other party.
El Vocero said the pair dated for several months before splitting but that Martin didn’t accept the separation and has been seen loitering around the petitioner’s house at least three times.
“The petitioner fears for his safety,” El Vovero quoted the order.
As far as we know, Ricky Martin is married to Swedish painter Jwan Yosef and has been since 2017 however, we don’t know the ins and outs of that relationship and whether or not the two practice ethical non-monogomy.
AP or any other news outlet has not obtained a copy of the restraining order.
Representatives for Martin told People magazine that the allegations were “completely false and fabricated,”
“We are very confident that when the true facts come out in this matter our client Ricky Martin will be fully vindicated,” the unnamed representatives stated.
While reports are making it sound like this could be some catastrophic misunderstanding, police did inform The Associated Press that they had visited the upscale neighbourhood of Dorado, where the singer lives, in an attempt to serve the order.
