The xx have released a new short film in homage to their fans

The xx have had a wild ride following the release of their brilliant third album, I See You.

They’re gearing up for an Australian tour in January (with Kelela and Earl Sweatshirt) following massive sets at Splendour back in August. And in September they played a huge headline set at Berlin’s Lollapalooza festival, which was documented by filmmaker Sylvie Weber and acts as the first in a new series of short films the band will be releasing in homage to their fans.

The xx have released a new short film, We See You – Berlin, the first that has been released in a series paying homage to their fans.

Titled We See You – Berlin, the film follows four local fans as they get ready for the festival, and discuss their relationship with The xx and their music.

“My process as a filmmaker speaks to a consistent desire within me to unveil the character within,” Weber explains in a press release. “In the case of We See You, coming across truly engaged and earnest individuals was not difficult. I think we’ve managed to represent in these four stories the feeling of the many millions who are so profoundly affected by the harmonies of Romy, Oliver and Jamie.”

The film features beautifully shot montages of fans packed together in crowds and interviews with the four superfans. It also portrays an intimate side to the The xx backstage and on the tour bus.

“A huge thank you to Sylvie Weber for capturing some truly intimate moments,” the band add, “we’re genuinely moved by the incredibly beautiful portraits of our fans. We see you Berlin.”
