Get ready Sydney!  The biggest multi-artform festival in the Southern Hemisphere, is back and this year’s theme is all about what makes us human

Vivid Sydney 2024 has delivered a program that promises 23 nights of extraordinary experiences from May 24 to June 15.

The festival, renowned as the Southern Hemisphere’s largest multi-artform celebration, will delve into the theme of ‘Humanity’ through Light, Music, Ideas, and Food.

Prepare for the city’s skyline to be transformed into an eye catching spectacle with large-scale projections, 3D installations, and interactive artworks spanning a 40km stretch of rainbow lasers emanating from Sydney Tower, symbolising hope and love.

The iconic Sydney Opera House will host the Lighting of the Sails, featuring the works of 2023 Archibald Prize winner Julia Gutman.

And Vivid Music will ignite the city with a diverse lineup featuring headliners like Budjerah, Mos Def (Yasiin Bey), Thelma Plum, Grentperez, and Air.

The festival introduces a new venue, the Machine Hall Precinct, for live performances, including artists like Deerhoof, Jen Cloher, and No Fixed Address.

Vivid Ideas, a cornerstone of the festival, will offer not only traditional panel discussions and conferences but also interactive experiences such as ‘After The Fact,’ a nightly deep-dive into current affairs, and ‘A THOUSAND WAYS: An Encounter,’ a unique one-on-one performance experience.

Delving into societal perspectives, Vivid Sydney explores the history and challenges of sex work in Australia’s red-light district with an immersive experience.

The festival also hosts ‘Golden Age of Humanity,’ featuring film screenings and discussions with influential Australians.

Vivid Food, in its second year, celebrates the diverse culinary landscape of Sydney and New South Wales. Highlights include the return of Vivid Fire Kitchen in a new location, A Culinary Canvas by Danielle Alvarez, Plates with Purpose offering a taste of Ukraine, and the VividPlace Food Trail featuring over 20 top chefs and restaurateurs.

The festival’s comprehensive program is designed to foster connections, spark imagination, and showcase the multitude of ways creativity enriches human lives.

As Vivid Sydney 2024 unfolds across venues such as Circular Quay, Sydney Opera House, The Rocks, and more, it promises to deliver an immersive and diverse experience, celebrating the essence of humanity through light, music, ideas, and food.
