Golden Vessel has just released his debut EP, a six-track trip across a serene dreamscape and we’re seriously digging it.
With sparkling synths, and vocals to boot, Golden Vessel delivers a slither of calming electronica on Before Sleep
He’s spent the past year performing Brisbane shows alongside fellow Aussie acts such as Art vs. Science, Vallis Alps, and Art of Sleeping, meanwhile finding the time to pump out three singles.
Titled Before Sleep, the EP is packed with atmospheric, vocal, electronica which is hard to dislike. Whether enjoyed at a live show, while outside catching some rays, or just during some downtime, Golden Vessel’s music is bound to take listeners to their happy place.
Before Sleep is rich with collaborators – each track features a guest vocalist, and friend of Golden Vessel’s. The producer obviously places a lot of trust in these musos, calling his act a collaborative project, and preferring to meet in person when working together. Woodes, OKBADLANDS, MTNS, Lastlings and Abraham Tilbury are the names behind the voices of the EP.
The single song devoid of any vocals is Schoolbag, a relaxing piece brimming with twinkling synths, and beachy, Caribbean percussion. Start to finish, this song feels like a smooth-sailed journey. It’s tracks like this which prove that dance music, and electronica, can be more than a kick drum and the promise of another bass drop. It makes you want close your eyes and sway.
The title track Before Sleep features Abraham Tilbury on vocals, additional synths, and even a mandolin. Ethereal vocals, minimal, driving percussion, and brassy synths complement each other flawlessly to create another serene track.
Golden Vessel’s talent shines through in his ability to create a stable sound style throughout the EP while bringing on board five different vocalists. Before Sleep is available now via Bandcamp where fans can also choose from a selection of extra material including artwork composed for each song, a behind-the-scenes photo album, a bonus track and more.
