For the past six years the Mullum Music Festival folk have offered a Youth Mentorship Program, aimed at nurturing homegrown talent by partnering them with artists playing the festival.
There are a variety of categories, each aimed at encouraging development for bands, solo artists, under 15’s and vocalists, all from the local Mullumbimby area. Each winner gets an hour with their mentor, plus a 20 minute performance slot at the festival and backstage access for the day.
“It’s exciting to see young emerging acts in their artistic infancy,” says festival director Glenn Wright. “You have this feeling in your bones that in a few years, they are going to be doing something special.”
