If Oasis and The Verve were to have had a love child, it would be in the form of Morning Harvey.
Sounds like Britpop is bigger here than it is in Britland. Evidence: The Morning Harvey’s newest single T.I.D.E.
The indie mood-rock band Morning Harvey, are back on the airwaves with their new single that was released on August 13th. The new single T.I.D.E is a follow-up from the bands previous single, Girl Euphoria that was released March this year.
Now whilst the wait between these two singles was only six months, unlike the year wait between, Girl Euphoria and their EP Well For Wishes, it was well worth it. Starting with a delightful and soothing tambourine intro then greeted by drums which kick-start into the rhythm and tempo of the song; T.I.D.E is a perfect follow up for Morning Harvey.
There are two elements within this song that really resonate with me – the first being the tambourine. Now whilst many bands have used tambourines, there is something about the way Morning Harvey does it in T.I.D.E. As I said earlier, the listener is first greeted with the tambourine in the intro, however, Morning Harvey continue throughout, to place aspects amongst the drums, bass and guitar.
The second element of the song that really resonated with me was the lyrics. T.I.D.E is one of the first by Morning Harvey to be based from personal experience. This really shines through within the song as whilst others, from Morning Harvey have inhibited a personal feel, it really stands outs in T.I.D.E.
The next live event for Morning Harvey will be Bigsound in Brisbane at the Underdog Pub on September 11. Tickets are still available via QMusic – head over now to catch… literally every band in Australia.
