The rig himself, Iggy Pop, is slated to executive produce a four-part docuseries called Punk.
The American cable network EPIX, who will premiere the docuseries on March 11th 2019, are calling it the “quintessential story of punk”.
Who else but the Godfather? Iggy Pop will executive produce a new docuseries called Punk about the history of punk rock.
Iggy Pop will produce the series alongside fashion designer John Varvatos, and under the directorship of Jessie James Miller.
The Stooges icon will be interviewed for his contribution to punk alongside The Sex Pistols’ John Lydon, Blondie’s Debbie Harry and Chris Stein, Dave Grohl, Marky Ramone, Guns N’ Roses’ Duff McKagan, MC5’s Wayne Kramer, Dead Kennedys’ Jello Biafra, Red Hot Chili Peppers’ Flea and The Decline of Western Civilization director Penelope Spheeris.
EPIX synopsises the docuseries as follows: “Featuring original interviews with America’s punk pioneers and the U.K.’s most notorious bands, alongside a seamless blend of rare and unseen photos, gritty archival film and video, a crackling soundtrack of punk hits and misses, Punk explores the music, the fashion, the art and the DIY attitude of a subculture of self-described misfits and outcasts.”
The Stooges were previously documented in the 2016 documentary Gimme Danger, directed by Jim Jarmusch, which follows their raggedy rise to fame.
