The Rolling Stones announce ‘Goats Head Soup’ reissue, share previously unreleased track

The Rolling Stones have announced that they are reissuing their brilliant 1973 album, Goats Head SoupThe 2020 reissue contains a new stereo mix of the entire album, as well as Stones rarities and alternative mixes from the scattered recording sessions. The studio album was recorded across Jamaica, the UK, and the USA due to the band’s status as tax exiles at the time.

Most excitingly, perhaps, this new reissue will feature three previously unreleased Rolling Stones tracks.

Criss-Cross is a fresh taste of what’s in store for the Goats Head Soup reissue, which features several other previously unreleased Rolling Stones tracks.

The 2020 reissue will be released as a 4x LP box set, complete with a live set from the album tour. A Brussels Affair was recorded during The Rolling Stones’ 1973 European Tour, promoting Goats Head Soup to their international audience.

As The Rolling Stones were banned from entering France at the time (due to pending drug cases against multiple members of the band), they decided to play a special show in the neighbouring Belgium nation. A train was even chartered for their French fans!

The Goats Head Soup 2020 reissue also boasts three previously unreleased tracks, ScarletAll The Rage, and Criss-Cross.

Scarlet was recorded way back in October of 1973, featuring none other than Jimmy Page on guitar. In a press release, the lost track has been described as “infectious and raunchy as anything the band cut in this hallowed era”.

All The Rage is another new tune to feature on the 2020 deluxe edition of Goats Head Soup. It’s been described as “a wild, post-Brown Sugar strut,” according to a press release.

Criss-Cross is the other unheard track to appear on the classic 1973 Rolling Stones album reissue. It dropped yesterday with a whacky clip that breathes ’70s fashion and debauchery. Check it out below:

The 2020 deluxe reissue of The Rolling Stones’ 13th studio album, Goats Head Soup, is set for release on September 4 (via Polydor/Interscope/UMe). Head to their website for more details on the release.
