Unlike the constantly disappointing and potentially heath hazardous food court we’re all familiar with, four piece Sydney band Food Court are serving up some super rad and ear-tasty tunes. Teaming beachy, indie rock with fuzzy 90’s inspired grunge sounds, the way they pull it all together seamlessly is refreshing – mango tango Boost juice refreshing.
After releasing their debut EP Smile At Your Shoes late last year, Food Court are kicking into 2014 with She’s Away. It’s the second release from the EP and available to download for FREE. The EP as a whole is pretty darn stunning, yet it sounds effortless. It wouldn’t even surprise me if they sat and recorded this in one sun-soaked day. Christian Campano brings some really sweet vocals into it too, without overpowering the music, mixing it up with quite a different feel to ex-band Betty Airs too.
This EP reminds me of jetty jumping after school in the summer months. And kind of makes me want to slap today’s 16 year olds in the face with their iPads and force them to do the same thing. It also makes me need watermelon drums in my life.
Smile At Your Shoes in its entirety is available to download for free on Food Court’s Bandcamp.
