There is no question at all, Violent Soho are absolutely kicking it in the dick. We still love ’em, even after our unsuccessful interview earlier this year.
Riding the wave of success that came with the release of their third studio album Hungry Ghost (I OH YOU), the Mansfield four-piece have been popping up on almost every festival bill and are about to set off on their huge Australian tour. A tour that is just a handful of tickets away from being completely sold out – kicking it!
I thought the only way Violent Soho could get me teary was via getting poked in the eye at one of their insane shows. I was wrong. Fur Eyes = <3
The latest single release from the album is lucky track number 7, Fur Eyes. The track is less aggressive then some of their other work and one of the more mellow songs from the album, but by no means of any less quality. If anything it’s just VS giving you a cheeky mosh pit breather in the set. Perhaps to scrape your friend from the ground, assess if the blood on your shirt is from your own body and indulge in some leafy greenery.
After a tracks like Dope Calypso, In The Aisle and anthem of a tune Covered In Chrome, the album flows really well into the steady single, showing that it’s not just explicit lyrics and heavy distortion that Soho are about. But of course, they hurl you back into destructive energy with Gold Coast and Eightfold. And is it just me or is Fur Eyes definitely a love song?
Expect to hear the new single spinning on the J’s. Their national tour starts on the 2nd of July and will be supported by The Smith Street Band and Luca Brasi, along with a handful of local badass bands. If you don’t have a ticket already, get one here in the next 24 hours, or face listening to a show from outside in the cold, ya slow poke sucker.
HELL FUCK YEAH!
