Animal Collective tease 10th anniversary release of Merriweather Post Pavilion

January 6th marks ten years since Animal Collective’s eighth studio album Merriweather Post Pavilion was released. Time flies, doesn’t it?

In celebration of the occasion, the band took to Instagram, where they also hinted that an anniversary-style release might be in the works for later in 2019.

Keep tuning in. It’s 2019“: On the 10th anniversary of their breakthrough album Merriweather Post Pavilion, Animal Collective have teased an anniversary release, as well as new music.

Happy 10th Birthday MPP. We’re overwhelmed about how many of you have tapped into our world through this music. Every record is special to us but this one seems to have flown the farthest,” the band wrote.

We hope to release some other MPP related sounds and sights over the next couple months in celebration of this moment. Keep tuning in. It’s 2019.”

The band have also written: “We’re finding our way into some new sounds,” which suggests a new album could be on the way. A new album would be the group’s first output since Tangerine Reef late last year.

Either way, here’s hoping more material from Animal Collective isn’t too far off.
