Pinheads are a 7-piece punk band hailing from Wollongong, NSW. Forming in 2015 the band emerged from the swampy hinterlands two years later with their debut EP I Wanna Be A Girl. They immediately exploded onto the scene with their outrageous live performances and unique blend of punk, rockabilly and British revival blues.
Pinheads contain members from Luke Spook and Shining Bird, lending them their eclectic, textured brand of pub punk. Their self-titled debut album quickly earned them a steady fanbase with tracks like Keep It Dark and Fight or Flight receiving significant airplay.
The outfit released their sophomore album Is This Real on 24, May 2019 to general acclaim and embarked on a lengthy European tour. Post-pandemic, they reemerged with a new single, New Love Dawn, which dropped in March of 2021.
It's fair to say that there aren't too many 7-piece punk rock bands around. And when you catch a Pinheads shows, the energy is intense as the band literally overflows from smaller stages. Sweaty, often shirtless, crowd interaction is a given at one of this band's shows. A droney onslaught of retro psyche, garage rock, and punk emanates from this Wollongong septet. It's an experience that's not for the faint-hearted.
