Cooks & Bakers’ new single Cage is a dynamic slice of indie-rock brilliance

Since forming in early 2018, Newcastle-based three-piece Cooks & Bakers have carved out an incredibly unique space for themselves in the Australian indie-rock scene. Their music is equal parts thought-out and infectious; heartfelt and dynamic.

Now, with the release of their latest single Cage, the band continue to build themselves as one of the Aussie music community’s most exciting emerging acts. If you’re not already across this name, it’s certainly time you changed that.

On their new single Cage, Newcastle-based three-piece Cooks & Bakers present an infectious and dynamic slice of indie-rock brilliance.

Throughout the new single, Cooks & Bakers – made up of guitarist and vocalist Campbell Ross, drummer Finn Ellem, and bassist Nathaniel Duggan – weave together elements of blues, roots, and indie-rock to craft a sound uniquely their own. With rich instrumentation and colourful vocal hooks, Cage is the kind of track that sticks with you for weeks.

Across its four-and-a-half-minute duration, the track pulls in myriad directions – it never sits in one place for too long. By the time it reaches its conclusion, you’ll have been roped in completely by Cooks & Bakers’ distinctive brand of music.

These are still early days for the Newcastle band, but judging by the quality of everything we’ve heard so far, I think we can safely expect plenty more quality tunes from Cooks & Bakers.

For now, do yourself a favour and listen to the new single above. Cage is available through all streaming platforms on March 29th.
