Dead Witch sport rose-coloured glasses on Sunshine, a surf-rock love song that marks their release since their 2022 debut.
Psych-rock five piece Dead Witch have returned with their latest single, Sunshine.
Taking sonic cues from its title, the track is anchored around the propulsive beat of surf rock drums, and carried by the band’s signature blend of garage-bound guitars and buoyant vocal harmonies.
Later, twangy guitar riffs and lilting rhythms provide the basis for Dead Witch’s love song, which recalls the early, honeymoon days of a summertime romance.
Speaking of the track — which was produced by Wade Keighran — in a press statement, lead vocalist Jaimee Taylor-Nielsen named Sunshine as one of the band’s favourite songs to perform live, saying it “is about the early days of new love where everything feels golden.”
As always, Taylor-Nielsen’s vocals remain effortlessly buttery, flecked with the country feel we’ve come to expect from Dead Witch, who’ve elsewhere dipped into psychedelia and indie rock with previous work.
Taylor-Nielsen forms part of Dead Witch alongside drummer Liz Reilly, bassist Eva Balog and guitarists Alex Cameron and Mille Lee.

Sunshine marks Dead Witch’s first offering since the release of their debut self-titled EP, which arrived in 2022 and featured standout tracks Starfucker, 15 Dennies, and La Niña.
Last year, the quintet was among the acts to perform at Happy Mag’s Needle In The Hay party. Sunshine is said to come ahead of a slew of releases from Dead Witch throughout 2024. In the meantime, you can listen to their new single below.
