Enter the Keanussance: Keanu culture is here

The Keanussance is an internet phenomenon, best defined as an online fan revival and obsession with John Wick, Toy Story 4 and Always Be My Maybe star, Keanu Reeves.

So what’s caused this fascination with our puppy-loving, down-to-earth hero?

Keanu

The world has fallen in love with Keanu Reeves, hook, line and sinker. Here’s why the internet has recently become aflame with Keanu.

Many rely on the endearing and respectful nature of Keanu’s public image for the cause of this phenomenon.

Others are drawn in by his refreshingly kind philosophical outlook on the world. On a recent edition of the Late Show with Stephen Colbert, the actor was asked what happens when we die. Keanu, in a new breed of sage-like wisdom, responds “I know that the ones who love us will miss us”.

Now, if you have been following Keanu’s career trajectory prior to these recent developments, you may remember him from films like Speed (aka the ‘Bus That Couldn’t Slow Down’), The Matrix and Point Break. These films, as awesome as they were, were more reminiscent of Keanu’s “serious” acting persona.

This new off-scene dimension to Keanu, in a bizarre and inexplicable cultural tide, is immensely attractive and likeable. He comes across as humble, responsible, and heroic. Perhaps there is hope for a society that celebrates individuals who share these values.

I, for one, happily welcome our wholesome Keanu overlord.
