WATCH: Keanu Reeves juggles nunchucks and axes in new trailer for ‘John Wick: Chapter 4’

The new trailer for John Wick: Chapter 4 has been released, ahead of the fourth instalment’s global premiere early next year.

The action film will see Keanu Reeves reprise his role as the titular crime-fighting hitman, who is this time joined by a new cast of foes. “Wick uncovers a path to defeating The High Table,” the trailer synopsis reads, “But before he can earn his freedom, [he] must face off against a new enemy with powerful alliances across the globe.”

The two-minute clip introduces the sequel’s new characters, which include British pop star Rina Sawayama, and Bill Skarsgård of Pennywise and It fame. Donnie Yen, Laurence Fishburne and Clancy Brown will likewise feature in the forthcoming blockbuster, while Chad Stahelski — who helmed the previous three films and doubled as Reeves’ stuntman — will return to the director’s chair again.

In the trailer, Wick is seen somehow performing even more stunts and travelling to even more remote locations from Japan to Germany. There, he rides a horse across a yellow sand desert and initiates a sword fight with Sawayama’s Akira, before dodging a particularly aggressive-looking canine. See all the action from the John Wick: Chapter 4 trailer above, and catch it in Australian cinemas on March 24, 2023.

Thankfully for die-hard action fans, Wick’s upcoming appearance won’t be his last, with a fifth instalment of the franchise set to premiere in 2024. Two spinoff productions have also been announced, including a standalone movie focussing on the hotel that features prominent in the films, aptly titled The Continental. Meanwhile, The Ballerina will be a television series, and is said to star Blonde actress, Ana De Armas.

In other Kea-news (sorry), the actor was this year rumoured to have joined a Marvel franchise, with reports emerging in May that he’d signed on to a “secret role” within its sprawling cinematic universe. More recently, Reeves’ graphic novel, BRZRKR last month became the highest-selling comic book in 30 years.
