Ahead of legendary rocker Frank Zappa’s controversial tour as a hologram, a promotional video has been released and it is freakishly realistic.
Brought together by the Zappa Family Trust and production company Eyellusion, the upcoming tour is said to feature Zappa ‘playing’ his greatest hits as well as some unreleased songs alongside his band mates.
A promotional video for Frank Zappa- Back On The Road: The Hologram Tour has surfaced, and Zappa looks as lifelike as ever.
The late American musician died over two decades ago, but in the video, Zappa is his old candid self. He discusses the recent controversy over Ticketmaster’s dismissal of the tour’s artwork cover as ‘questionable content’, as it featured the buttocks of a cartoon penguin; alluding to his hit song Penguin in Bondage. With delayed yet eerily close-up visuals, he said:
“I’m a person who likes to do what he wants to do whether people like it or not. And what I do is designed for people who like it, not for people who don’t”.
The hologram will largely be derived from unseen concert footage from the seventies , bringing his onstage charisma back for one last hurrah.
