Four-piece from Adelaide Glass Tides have been approaching the scene at scorching speed since their recent formation in late 2017.
With one EP already under their belt and first single Forever accumulating over 70,000 hits so far, this hard-rock dream team have been making waves with their powerful anthems, strong sense of emotion and hard-hitting lyrics.
The emotion delivered by Glass Tides in latest track Forever is undeniable, resonating with the pain of those who have lost love ones.
Already receiving rave reviews on triple j Unearthed and receiving multiple plays on the j’s Home and Hosed, Forever is touching hearts both thematically and musically, relating to real-life struggles.
Drawing similarities to Bring Me The Horizon, The Used and Emarosa, the track is heavy with guitar, passionate, anthemic vocals and massive drum bashes.
The video opens in the green, luscious surrounds of a beautiful rainforest as the words “Cancer kills over 7 million people per year. The hardest part was watching the pain you had to go through” appear.
As the shots alternate between the rainforest and swamp-like surrounds, the lyrics appear over each sequence, really hitting home.
For a clip so simple the impact is strong, pushing the ‘less is more’ aesthetic with minimalistic visuals and heavy sonics. Made up of Paul Bakker (vocals/guitar), George Solomon (drums), Jack Chambers (guitar/vocals) and Oscar Lang (bass), Glass Tides have truly connected with their audience on a personal level with Forever and it’ll be interesting to see what they do next.
Keep an eye out for the hard-hitting four piece Glass Tides in March, where they’ll be set to take the stage on a few key dates. In the meantime, have a listen to their debut EP Thoughts below.
