It wasn’t too long ago that Gorillaz dropped their latest, a 26 track monster LP called Humanz. Reactions were mixed, yet largely positive. Despite that, many believe the record doesn’t have the lasting power of Demon Days or even Plastic Beach. Regardless, it killed it on the charts.
Well it looks like the unreal quartet of 2D, Murdoc, Russell and Noodle aren’t done with us quite yet. Sleeping Powder is apparently a Humanz outtake, even though the idea of outtakes on such a long album may seem ridiculous.
It’s funkier than most of the record, for sure, so it may have simply been a question of Damon Albarn feeling that Sleeping Powder wasn’t the right fit for Humanz.
The Gorillaz don’t care if you’ve had enough of them, dropping a new single Sleeping Powder on top of their recent 26 track LP Humanz.
It’s a jam for sure, Albarn’s knack for a killer hook and catchy lines showing its face yet again. Personally, I don’t think it’s as strong as the strongest Humanz tracks. It’s still hard to go past the thumping Momentz featuring De La Soul or the badass Charger featuring the one and only Grace Jones.
But that’s just like, my opinion man.
