Not even the continuing controversial takes and antics of J.K.Rowling have spoiled it.
Now the fanbase have banded together to stop a construction project from desecrating the grave of everyone’s favourite head-smashing house elf.
The construction in question is a £430 million project for the 125-mile Greenlink power connector.
The connector is intended to link power between the UK’s National Grid and Ireland by cutting through County Wexford and Freshwater West in Pembrokeshire.
The site for the original construction is largely known as the spot where the house elf Dobby perished in Harry Potter And The Deathly Hallows: Part One.
Since then it has been a spot where fans can mourn the character.
After a BBC interview with the project’s manager, Simon Ludlam, fans quickly expressed their concern over the grave.
Ludlam told the Energy Revolution podcast that “[BBC aired the interview] a couple of weeks later, and we got hundreds of calls, I mean hundreds”.
“I said ‘Dobby, who’s Dobby?…He’s a fictitious character in a fictitious book, the whole thing is fictitious, what are you talking about?’ but my colleague said ‘No it’s very, very serious’.”
Through careful planning, the project’s team were able to move the construction between Dobby’s grave site and another sensitive site containing real Bronze Age remains.
