Tributes flow for musician Aaron Carter, following his death in California, at the age of 34: “You had a charm that was effervescent.”
Singer and rapper, Aaron Carter was found dead at his home in Lancaster, California on Saturday (November 5). According to a report by Deputy Alejandra Parra from the LA County Sheriff’s Department, the 34-year-old singer, rapper and brother of Backstreet Boys‘ member Nick was found in his bathtub by a house sitter, and efforts to revive him were not successful.
Following confirmation of Carter’s death by family representatives, his fiancee, Melanie Martin, requested privacy during this grieving period: “We are still in the process of accepting this unfortunate reality,” she stated. “Your thoughts and prayers are greatly appreciated.”
Since the news of his tragic passing came to light, tributes from stars and fans alike have poured out across social media. Celebrities including Hilary Duff, Johnnie Guilbert, Diane Warren and Tyler Hilton have posted heartfelt messages in honour of the I Want Candy hitmaker.
“For Aaron – I’m deeply sorry that life was so hard for you and that you had to struggle in front of the whole world,” stated Hilary Duff via Instagram on Sunday (November 6). “You had a charm that was absolutely effervescent…boy did my teenage self love you deeply. Sending love to your family at this time. Rest easy.”

Aaron Carter was an award-winning musician, well known for his 2000 hit single, I Want Candy, and his triple-platinum sophomore LP, Aaron’s Party (Come Get It). Earlier in his career, Carter performed as the opening act on the Backstreet Boys’ 1997 tour.
In light of his tragic passing, his brother and Backstreet Boys member, Nick Carter, stated the following via Instagram: “My heart is broken. Even though my brother and I have had a complicated relationship, my love for him has never ever faded. I have always held on to the hope that he would somehow, someday want to walk a healthy path and eventually find the help that he so desperately needed.”

He continued, “sometimes we want to blame someone or something for a loss, but the truth is that addiction and mental illness is the real villain here. I will miss my brother more than anyone will ever know. I love you Chizz. Now you can finally have the peace you could never find here on earth….I love you baby brother.”
