MusicNSW and APRA will be hosting a special workshop Gig Guide to educate aspiring musicians to navigate the process of booking a club gig on March 26.
Gig Guide will be hosted by MusicNSW Education Officer and former Bluejuice frontman Jake Stone at The Standard Bowl. The workshop will delve into the how to’s of promotional requirements, give examples of good and bad treatment, negotiating deals as well as the legal, technical and financial necessities of booking club shows.
A special guest panel of bookers and agents will be on hand to advise young artists on the day, including Rebecca Young (Artist Voice – Chet Faker), Rob G (Select – Tkay Maidza), and club promoters Chris Sheppard (Music & Booze Co – Vic, Marly Bar, Waywards, Brighton Up Bar), Maggie Collins (GoodGod Smallclub), Keita Tarlinton (Tokyo SingSong, The Standard Bowl) and Dom O’Connor (MUM at Wold Bar).
