Beat makers Harrison Mills (aka CatacombKid) and Clayton Knight (aka BeachesBeaches) are the dreamy electronic duo behind the sounds that have you covered this summer. After winning us over with their irresistible electro dreaminess, Seattle chillwavers ODESZA are back with their second album In Return – the perfect accompaniment to your lazy summer afternoons.
ODESZA will ensnare you with their relaxed beats, uplifting synths and gorgeous guest vocalists. Time to take your musical chill pill!
With a good dose of guest singers and electronic experimentation, the duo’s latest album expands their dreamy debut sound from LP Summer’s Gone and EP My Friends Never Die and takes us to sunnier pastures. Infused with some pretty sweet electro-pop, R&B and ambient beats, their latest 13-track album is the chill pill you need to get the good vibes flowing all summer long.
Sticky jams begin with buzzing synth opener Always This Late. With some shimmering reverb and crushed vocal samples, you’ll feel the warm relaxation wash over you pretty much straight away. Sun-speckled sounds continue with sultry track Say My Name, featuring vocals from British up-and-comer Zyra. Psychedelic shuffling beat Bloom and futuristic electro R&B track All We Need featuring Portland’s Shy Girls then send us some more glitched-out summery vibes.
Glistening chimes and hazy drones give us plenty of dreamy ambient moments in tracks Sundara and Kusanagi before chillwave grooves swell in downtempo electronic single Sun Models. Featuring Madelyn Grant, who serenades the ears with her soulful vocals, it’s a smooth, repetitive beat you’ll wanna kick back and relax to whilst blissfully lazing on your deckchair.
Sounds for your summer couldn’t be any more chilled than with ODESZA’s latest balmy beats. So, take a chill pill compliments of the dreamy electro duo and be sure to also check them out on their 2015 In Return World Tour (dates below).
