Since releasing their debut EP Vol. 1 back in February, Brisbane based outfit The Biology Of Plants have been weaving together hallucinatory, dream-like, sonic landscapes that envelope you wholly. Inspired by plants, their songs are simultaneously sprawling and grounded.
Now, with the release of their new video for Ezra, the band continue to build upon their immersive sounds. It should go without saying, we’re stoked to be premiering it for you today.
With the release of their surreal new video for Ezra, Brisbane four-piece The Biology Of Plants continue to establish themselves as one of the country’s most unique and exciting emerging bands.
Throughout the new single, The Biology Of Plants glide through a hypnotic blend of psych, alt-rock, classical, jazz, and electronica to craft a sound that’s unlike anything else currently making the rounds. With dreamy string arrangements and pulsating rhythms, Ezra evolves into its own being – it grows arms and legs, a mind of its own.
By the time the new single reaches the conclusion of its four-minute duration, you’ll have been roped in completely to TBOP’s chaotic and cinematic, instrumental sounds.
Directed by Angus Kirby, the track’s new video is the perfect visual accompaniment. With surreal, unnerving imagery and disorientating strobes, the song and video clip weave into one another, creating a completely captivating audio-visual experience.
These are still relatively early days for The Biology Of Plants, but judging by everything we’ve seen and heard so far, I think we can safely expect plenty more quality material from this Brisbane four-piece.
For now, do yourself a favour and watch the new video for Ezra above.
