Local label legends Rice Is Nice are taking the reins for the third annual Cassette Store Day in Australia this year.
October 22nd is the date to save because for the third year running the whole world will be celebrating the cassette in all its glory. Following in the footsteps of Record Store Day, Cassette Store Day was founded by UK indie labels like Suplex Cassettes, Kissability and Sexbeat back in 2013. Last year the legendary Burgers Records spearheaded the day in the US. Now the team at Rice Is Nice is getting amongst it in Australia, alongside Arch Hill in NZ, and Mansions and Millions in Germany.
If you want to get involved, shops, labels and event teams need to get in contact with Rice Is Nice starting July 11th and ending September 1st. The cost is just $5 for labels wanting to list an official release, and free for shops and events.
Unlike last year, labels will be able to sell their releases online on Cassette Store Day instead of having to wait a week after.
Rice Is Nice have also just released their own cassette – mixtape of killer Australian bands focusing on awesome female musos.
