Single Premiere: Dr Spaceman – She’s Lonely Again

Pop music! With guitars! Songs about girls! It’s about time we lived up to our name as a blog and shared something that won’t make you so miserable. Sydney four piece Dr. Spaceman have just shot us the new single from their upcoming second EP Are You Feeling Nervous? and like their premiere work, it’s making this rainy weather seem a little more bearable. Note the use of the word seem.

Sydney kids Dr Spaceman are back on the circuit with a dandy little number called She’s Lonely Again. I know that feel, She. I know that feel.

With hooks and unpretentious giggles that sound more at home in the saccharine sweetness of Fortitude Valley than in the bong-water-on-the-carpet scene of Suburban Sydney, She’s Lonely Again is two minutes completely free of self indulgence. As if aware of it’s own musical cliches, the single pulls everything out but once – a seamless little sqealing solo, a simple little instrumental refrain, a little something else in there, one more of those things with the vocals. I dunno, I’m not a songwriter, I just do words and stuff.

Slated on their Soundcloud for a June 21st release, Are You Feeling Nervous was recorded and mastered in a mere six three months, their last work It Depends was released in December of last year. Like their debut, we’re hoping for more subtle references geared towards those of you who watch way too much TV (which, let’s face it, is all of us), with track #1 on the EP titled For Your Health.

Dr Spaceman are launching the single on June 26th at Sydney’s grooviest little basement joint Easy Tiger, a tiny space underneath the Unicorn Hotel (Paddington) with a cool little sound system, an anachronistic mix of vaguely 70’s decor and some of the prettiest bartenders you’ll ever not talk to due to your crippling self consciousness. Darned Eastern Suburbs babes.

You can stream She’s Lonely Again below and hit up their soundcloud for a free download of the single.
