Florida alternate rock band Surfer Blood were recently robbed whilst on tour. Amongst the various gear take from their tour van the band have also lost the cash donations they had accumulated to help guitarist Thomas Fekete’s cancer treatment.
Fekete has been diagnosed with an aggressive sarcoma, and the band have been raising money for his treatment thanks to donations made by fans at shows. Whilst they were in Schaumburg, Illinois the band’s van was broken into. In a Facebook statement the band said. “Not only did we lose thousands of dollars in personal items and show settlements, but we also lost all cash donations we collected for Thomas over the last 8 shows at our merch table. This last detail is perhaps the most heartbreaking of all in that so much positivity and amazing generosity could be ruined by one bad person(s)“.
