New music Friday is here. Check out the five brand spankin’ new records we’re spinning this fine day.

M83 – DSVII

The long-lost sequel to M83’s 2007 album Digital Shades Vol. 1DSVII is an utterly enveloping listen. Clear nods to world-building ’80s soundtracks such as The NeverEnding Story and Phantasm lend the record a very fantastical feel, as if you’re being whisked away to whatever lands Anthony Gonzalez conjures in his dreams.

The album also comes alongside a three-part experimental film directed by Bertrand Mandico, titled Exodus. Together the works are formidable; if you enjoyed one, you should absolutely check out the other.

Babe Rainbow – Today

Featuring recent singles such as Morning Song (in the running for most adorable film clip of the year) and Something NewToday is the brand new LP from Flightless signees/macadamia farmers Babe Rainbow.

It’s dainty, it’s friendly, and it’s ever so sunny; a perfect album to bring in the summer heat. They’ve also dropped news of an Australian tour in November and December this year – check out the dates and grab your tickets here.

These New South Whales – In The Light of Day

TNSW are back with a new single and the announcement of a fresh new album, I Just Do What God Tells Me To Do out November 8th. In The Light Of Day is a more charming listening than their usual punkish mania, and comes with a fantastic clip courtesy of director Callum Van de Mortel.

The band have also announced a pretty hefty Australian tour, hitting every state save for Northern Territory. Check out the dates and grab your tickets here, and pre-order I Just Do What God Tells Me To Do here.

Cool Sounds – More To Enjoy

Australia’s most appropriately named band Cool Sounds have dropped their sophomore LP More To Enjoy, a collection of timeless guitar tunes that are bound to put a smile on your dial.

A little like Babe Rainbow’s LP, we’d recommend a hammock and some sunshine as an ideal listening scenario. If you can’t rustle that up, check them out on tour throughout October and November – dates here.

Georgia – Never Let You Go

Breakout UK artist Georgia has shared another catchy, pulsating single in Never Let You Go. It comes with news of a brand new album from her, titled Seeking Thrills and dropping in January 2020 via Domino Records.

Georgia has been hopping from banger to banger of late, plus she recently dropped into Australia to tour alongside Jungle. Remember the name, she’s undoubtedly one of the more exciting power-pop artists emerging right now.
